Fordson County Super IV: water-cooled four-cylinder diesel four-wheel-drive tractor from the MAJOR series, 3,613 cc, 38.2 kW and 2,850 kg weight, built 1960 to 1964
Fordson was the tractor brand within the Ford group; the MAJOR series formed the brand's standard field tractor in the 1950s and 1960s. County Commercial Cars of Fleet in southern England built variants fitted with additional four-wheel drive on this basis, among them the Super IV, built from 1960 to 1964.

The Super IV is powered by a water-cooled four-cylinder diesel engine of 3,613 cc, producing 52 hp, or 38.2 kW, at 1,650 to 1,800 rpm. At a weight of 2,850 kg, a length of 3,310 mm and a wheelbase of 1,800 mm, the machine reaches a top speed of 20 km/h.
The additional front-axle drive considerably improves traction on loose or wet ground compared with the standard rear-wheel-drive MAJOR, which is particularly useful for primary tillage with a plough or cultivator. The low rated speed of 1,650 to 1,800 rpm delivers high torque for such drawbar work already at moderate engine speeds.
When buying a Fordson County Super IV secondhand, the condition of the front axle differential and the four-wheel-drive joints matters most, since these assemblies carry considerably higher loads than on the standard rear-wheel-drive version. Also worth checking are the diesel engine's injection pump and injectors, the clutch and gearbox, and visible corrosion on sheet-metal and frame parts after many years of use.
