The 5610 is powered by a water-cooled four-cylinder diesel engine of Ford's own manufacture, with 4,188 cc, producing 72 hp, or 53 kW, and 245 Nm of torque at 2,100 rpm. At a weight of 2,743 kg, a height of 2,560 mm and a width of 1,940 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,223 mm, the machine reaches a top speed of 30 km/h.

An in-house four-cylinder diesel engine of just over 4.1 litres and 53 kW belonged, in the 1980s, to the upper mid-range of general-purpose tractors, built for tillage with medium-sized implements, trailer work and a wide range of tasks through the power take-off. Torque of 245 Nm at 2,100 rpm provides adequate pulling power across the practical rev range. The power take-off typically runs at the standardised 540 rpm, allowing a wide range of mounted implements to be driven.

When buying a Ford 5610 secondhand, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the cooling system of the water-cooled engine, and the injection pump and injectors of the diesel engine matter most. Also worth checking are the brakes and corrosion on sheet-metal and frame parts; spare parts for this common Ford series are readily available on the open market.
