When buying used, check the brake lines for cracks and the coupling heads for tightness, as well as the chassis for distortion along its 10,800 mm length. Wheel bearings and the axle mounts on the chassis should show no play. Tyres, lighting and the drawbar coupling gear also belong in the inspection. The suspension mounts are worth a close look too, since play there quickly affects handling and towing stability behind a lorry or tractor unit.
