The wide span of kerb and gross weight shows that the collective name covers both lighter trailers for small commercial transport and heavier versions in the tandem-axle class. Vehicles in these weight classes are typically used for hauling building materials, equipment and tools. The more than tenfold difference between the smallest and largest kerb weight shows that very different vehicle classes run under the same brand name, from light small trailers to heavy tandem-axle versions.

When buying used, check the frame and load platform for corrosion and deformation, particularly at the mounting points for bodywork. The overrun brake, or the brake system on the heavier versions, axle bearings and tyres should all be checked, along with the operation of lighting and the coupling. Spare parts for axles and brake components are available through the general commercial-vehicle accessories trade. On the heavier versions, also check the hydraulics and any tipping mechanism for leaks.
