The Favorit 700 Vario series from Fendt comprises 4 models.

Fendt Favorit 700 Vario – mid-range series from Marktoberdorf: six-cylinder at 5,702 cc, 84.8 to 118 kW (115 to 160 hp), stepless Vario transmission, types 711 to 716 Vario

The Favorit 700 Vario formed the mid-range tier at Fendt's home plant in Marktoberdorf from 1998, sitting between the smaller 300/400 Vario tractors and the large 800/900 Vario models. Fendt had changed the industry in 1995 with its stepless Vario transmission and gradually converted its entire range to the new technology; the Favorit name traditionally denoted Fendt's upper power class before Vario itself became the range name from the 2000s onward. The four types 711, 712, 714 and 716 Vario are ordered by their final digit in ascending power. Fendt has belonged to the US group AGCO since 1997 but continues to build in Bavaria.

The register lists 4 versions with 84.8 to 118 kW (115 to 160 hp) from the consistently 5,702 cc six-cylinder at a rated speed of 2,100 rpm; torque ranges from 523 to 724 Nm. Unladen weights lie between 5,650 and 5,800 kg, the permissible gross weight between 9,500 and 11,000 kg. At a uniform length of 4,640 mm, width (2,390 to 2,590 mm) and height (2,802 to 2,850 mm) vary with tyres and cab specification.

The 700 Vario covered the mid power segment for mixed arable and grassland farms seeking a stepless transmission without interruption of tractive force, while competitors such as John Deere and Case IH still offered mainly stepped gearboxes at the time. The series marks an important step towards today's Vario family, which now spans Fendt's entire range.

On a used purchase, points to check on the early Vario transmissions include the condition of the travel drive, hydraulic pumps and control electronics, the service history of the six-cylinder engine, and corrosion on wings, cab frame and the linkage plate; parts and diagnostics run through the Fendt-AGCO dealer network.
