Farmtrac FT26: Indian compact tractor with a water-cooled three-cylinder diesel, four-wheel drive, 25 hp and a weight of around 1,000 kg
Farmtrac is an Indian tractor brand belonging to the Escorts group in Faridabad, whose models are exported worldwide as affordable compact tractors for smallholders and hobby farms alike. The FT26 belongs to the FT range and, with its power class, is aimed at small and medium farms outside large-scale arable agriculture.

The water-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine of 1,318cc produces 25 hp (18 kW) at 2,700 rpm and drives all four wheels through a gearbox with 9 forward and 3 reverse gears. At a weight of around 1,000 kg, the three-point linkage lifts up to 750 kg; the top speed is around 18 to 20 km/h.
A three-cylinder four-wheel-drive tractor of this power class is built for small agricultural plots, orchards, grounds maintenance and light haulage, not for large-scale arable farming. The widely staged nine-plus-three gearbox allows a broad range of working speeds for different mounted implements.
When buying one of these tractors second-hand, the condition of the front-axle drive and its joints matters, as these are among the most failure-prone parts on compact four-wheel-drive tractors, along with the tightness of the lift cylinder given the three-point linkage's rated load. As Farmtrac is exported internationally, spare parts are generally easy to source through import-dealer networks.
