In this generation, the Farmall series covered the range from a small farmyard and general-purpose tractor to a medium-size field tractor, and shaped the North American tractor market for decades; the choice between petrol, diesel and LPG drive was typical of IH tractors of the period and let buyers match the tractor to local fuel availability.
On older Farmall models, check the condition of the carburettor or injection pump depending on fuel type, along with the clutch, gearbox and electrics; on LPG versions, check the gas system itself, rust on sheet-metal parts and fenders is common on these model years, and parts for Farmall classics are available through specialist US parts dealers.
