Eicher Baureihe 74

Kerb weight ranges from 2,320 to 3,450 kg, length from 3,275 to 3,795 mm, width from 1,690 to 1,970 mm and height from 1,530 to 2,505 mm. One model is recorded with a maximum torque of 278.5 Nm, and rated speeds range from 2,000 to 2,250 rpm.

With evocative animal names such as Büffel, Königstiger and Mammut, Eicher stood out in a market where competitors mostly identified their tractors by type number alone. The 74 range thereby covered a broad power spectrum, from a compact all-rounder to a more powerful version for heavier field work and haulage tasks on medium and larger farms.

When buying a used Eicher from the 74 range, check the condition of the clutch and gearbox, wear on the rear axle, the tightness of the injection system, and corrosion on the frame, bonnet and mudguards, which is common on tractors of this age. Spare parts are available through specialist Eicher mechanics and vintage clubs; there is no longer an active factory behind the range.
