The Eicher 530 SK carries an air-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine with 1,963 cm³ of displacement, producing 30 hp at 2,000 rpm, and drives the rear wheels. Through a gearbox with 11 forward and 2 reverse ratios, the machine, at 1,350 kg, 2,675 mm long, 1,330 mm high, 905 mm wide and with a 1,560 mm wheelbase, reaches a top speed of 21 km/h.
At just 905 mm wide and 1,330 mm high, the 530 SK ranks among the smallest and narrowest of the Eicher tractors considered here and was built for narrow lanes and tight spaces, such as in special crops or small farmyards. The unusual spread of eleven forward gears and only two reverse gears allows a fine choice of forward travel speed, useful when working with driven implements, while only two coarse steps are available for reversing.
When buying a small, air-cooled two-cylinder engine used, the condition of the cooling fan matters, as these engines overheat quickly if the cooling airflow is blocked. Also worth checking are the shift mechanism of the eleven-speed gearbox for smooth operation in every gear, the condition of the rear axle as the sole driven axle, and corrosion damage to the frame and mudguards.
