The Eicher 566 Turbo carries an air-cooled, turbocharged three-cylinder diesel engine with 2,925 cm³ of displacement, producing 66 hp, or 49 kW, at 2,150 rpm. At 1,990 kg, 3,470 mm long, 2,100 mm high, 1,065 mm wide and with a 2,150 mm wheelbase, the machine reaches a top speed of 25 km/h.

Turbocharging draws from just 2,925 cm³ of displacement an output that would otherwise need a considerably larger naturally aspirated three-cylinder, making the engine punchier than comparable unturbocharged versions at the same weight. At only 1,065 mm wide, the machine is also noticeably narrower than other tractors of this weight class, a build suited to narrow row spacing such as in vineyards or orchards. Owners of such narrow-track tractors also value the tighter turning circle that comes with the reduced width, useful when working close to rows of vines or trees.

When buying a turbocharged diesel engine used, the condition of the turbocharger itself matters, as its bearings and seals can be worn on older machines, along with the tightness of the intake and boost air ducting. Also worth checking, on a narrow-built machine, are the steering and axle bearings, which see greater strain during tight turns in narrow lanes.
