The JDS 60 is a narrow, three-cylinder compact tractor only 1,020 mm wide. Tractors of this width are built to work between narrow rows of trees or vines, where an ordinarily wide field tractor has no room to pass.

The water-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine with 2,900 cm³ of displacement produces 60 hp, or 44 kW, at 2,500 rpm. At 1,980 kg, 3,250 mm long and 2,060 mm high, the tractor reaches a top speed of 30 km/h with a 1,900 mm wheelbase.
The combination of narrow track, low weight and 44 kW of engine output is typical of narrow-track tractors in orchards and vineyards, where manoeuvrability between rows of trees or vines matters more than high pulling power for wide tillage implements. Such machines usually carry sprayers, mowers or small trailers for harvesting. At a top speed of 30 km/h, the JDS 60 is fast enough for short runs between individual plots on a holding, though it is not built for road transport over longer distances.
When buying a used narrow-track tractor of this type, the condition of the steering and front axle matters, as they take more strain from frequent turning in narrow rows, along with possible damage to the narrow bodywork from contact with branches or vines. Also worth checking are the clutch, brakes and the tightness of the injection pump. Because the narrow build leaves little room for a large radiator, the cooling system is also worth checking, particularly for machines used through hot summer months.
