Dresser TD12C-XP: crawler dozer with a Komatsu S6D102E-1 six-cylinder engine, 154.1 hp or 105.9 kW and 550.1 Nm of torque

Dresser was a US construction equipment brand whose crawler dozer line traces back to the TD models of International Harvester and was later continued under its cooperation with Komatsu. The TD12C-XP belongs to this dozer line. The TD line stood for decades for rugged, medium-weight crawler dozers in North American earthmoving.

The TD12C-XP is powered by a Komatsu S6D102E-1 six-cylinder diesel engine with 5,881.3 cm³ displacement, producing 154.1 hp or 105.9 kW at 2,500 rpm with 550.1 Nm of torque.

The Komatsu engine in a Dresser chassis reflects the close technical ties between the two brands in crawler dozer building. Dozers in this power class are used for grading, pushing and stripping working faces in mining as well as in general earthmoving, where tracks give lower ground pressure than wheeled vehicles and therefore better traction on loose material. Dozers like this are also used for road maintenance on industrial sites and landfills, where the ground needs regular grading. Quarries handling their own haul roads are another common setting for this kind of machine.

When buying used, track wear, the pins and bushings of the track links, and the condition of the blade and lift cylinders are the key checks. Since the Komatsu engine is also fitted in many other construction machines, spares for wear parts are generally easy to find.
