Mini trucks such as the K range are widespread in China and increasingly on export markets thanks to their low price and small dimensions, useful for inner-city delivery and small businesses, where they compete with similar models from Wuling, Changan and Suzuki. Dongfeng ranks among China's largest commercial-vehicle makers and, alongside the domestic market, increasingly supplies countries in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.

On these small trucks, corrosion on the frame and load bed, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, and the tightness of the simple leaf-spring suspension all matter; parts are well supplied in the Chinese market, but outside China often only through specialist importers.
