David Brown was a British tractor manufacturer based in Meltham, near Huddersfield in Yorkshire. The A series with the 750 model was built in the 1960s as a smaller tractor in the maker's range, with classic rear-wheel drive rather than the four-wheel-drive layouts that became common later.

The four-cylinder diesel engine has a displacement of 2,210 cc and produces 25 hp (18 kW) at 1,950 rpm. Its design top speed is around 20 km/h, and it weighs 1,700 kg. The front carries 5.00-15 tyres, the rear 10-28 – a clear difference between a narrow steered wheel and a wider driven one, typical of standard tractors of the period.
At 25 hp, the 750 sits in the small power class of agricultural tractors, sufficient for smaller holdings, grassland and light draft work, without the pulling power for heavy soil cultivation. Rear-wheel drive with markedly wider rear tyres provided the traction needed at a moderate kerb weight.
