Cub Cadet – other models: the collective page of American compact tractors outside the named ranges, from the 7193 to the 8454 SS, 14 to 34 kW, Mitsubishi and Daedong engines for MTD
This page gathers the Cub Cadet tractors the register could not assign to a named range – here the compact all-round tractors of the 7000 and 8000 series, not the brand's better-known lawn-mower tractors. Cub Cadet was launched in 1961 by International Harvester as a brand for garden and lawn tractors and sold to MTD Products of Ohio in 1981; the compact tractors listed here were built for MTD first by Mitsubishi in Japan and later by Daedong in South Korea (today known under the Kioti brand) as contract manufacturing. The type logic orders the power class in the first digit (7000 series around 20 to 30 hp, 8000 series from about 30 hp), SS denotes versions with hydrostatic drive and power steering.

The register lists here 15 versions with 14 to 34 kW, that is 19 to 45 hp, from three- to four-cylinders, with lift capacities from 635 to 1,355 kg and rated speeds from 2,500 to 2,700 rpm; the engines are diesel throughout.
Cub Cadet's compact class targeted North American smallholders, horse-farm owners and property owners looking for a full-featured tractor with a PTO and three-point hitch but below the full agricultural class; it thus stood in direct competition with the compact ranges of Kubota, John Deere and New Holland.
On used tractors, operating hours and service records of the Mitsubishi or Daedong engine, the tightness of hydraulics and lift, the condition of the four-wheel-drive clutch and PTO, rust on cab and mudguards, and, on the SS versions, the condition of the hydrostat and power steering count; parts run through the MTD Cub Cadet network.
