The TRL 2600 carries an air-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine of 1,145 cm³ displacement, producing 16.2 kW (22 hp) at 3,000 rpm. With a length of 5,350 mm, a width of 1,960 mm, a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a height of 2,380 mm, this comparatively small engine faces a considerably larger chassis; the top speed of 18 km/h confirms a design aimed at steady draft work rather than travel speed.
At 18 km/h the TRL 2600 falls within driving licence category L up to 40 km/h. The ratio of engine power to length and wheelbase is lower than in an ordinary field tractor of comparable output, pointing to a chassis built for load-carrying and steady running rather than draft power at the plough, of the kind used for carrying implements or loads around the farm.
When buying such a long, air-cooled two-cylinder second-hand, the condition of the cooling-air ducting and cylinder fins, the bearings of the long chassis, and rust on the frame and sheet-metal parts matter. Because this special chassis was never widely used, spare parts are practically only obtainable through salvage or specialist collectors.
