Branson K

The K78 carries a water-cooled four-cylinder diesel engine with 3,409 cm³ of displacement, producing 74 hp, or 54 kW, at 2,500 rpm. At 2,835 kg unladen weight, 4,725 kg permissible gross weight, 4,117 mm long, with a 2,200 mm wheelbase and 1,893 mm width and 2,605 mm height, the hydraulics lift up to 2,300 kg.

The lift capacity of 2,300 kg, considerably higher than in the 25 range, combined with a longer wheelbase and higher gross weight, points to a tractor built for heavier implements and larger front-loader work. The bigger four-cylinder at 3,409 cm³ runs at a lower speed than the more compact Branson models, indicating more torque for draft work. The water-cooled design with radiator and fan allows continuous use even in hot ambient conditions without loss of power.

When buying a used K78, besides the clutch and rear axle, the front hydraulics matter most, as they carry a heavier load than on the smaller Branson ranges. Also worth checking are the condition of the drive shaft and the tightness of the hydraulic hoses at the front and rear attachment points, since both wear faster under the heavier loads this range is built to carry.
