Böckmann Fahrzeugwerke of Lastrup in the Emsland region has built horse and livestock transporters for decades, both as trailers and, as in this collection, as bodies on van chassis with their own drive.

Self-propelled horse transporters on a van base offer more standing room and comfort for the animals than a trailer, plus their own living and tack-room area, as the “Stall” (stable) designation in the Compact L Plus suggests; Böckmann thereby serves above all competition riders and equestrian businesses, for whom reaching a show quickly without towing a separate trailer matters.
On these bodies, the condition of the van chassis and the four-cylinder diesel, moisture and rust in the body and stable area, the operation of the partitions and loading ramp, and brakes and tyres under the relatively high gross weights all count; parts for the body run through Böckmann, for the chassis through the base-vehicle maker.
