These light field tractors of the late 1940s and early 1950s served smaller farms with row crops, for which the nimble, narrow-track Avery designs with their modest engine power were built.

Buying used, on these vintage tractors the condition of the Hercules engine, carburettor and ignition matter most, along with the frame and front axle for corrosion; original parts are scarce and sourced through suppliers specialising in post-war US tractors.

Field tractors of this period, from the late 1940s and 1950s, predated the international standardisation of power take-off speed and three-point linkage geometry, which only became settled in later decades as 540 revolutions per minute and the ISO 730 standard; many US makers of the time still used their own, maker-specific systems for mounting front and rear implements.
