Alf Other models

The register lists 54 versions here with a kerb weight of 362 to 3,100 kg and a gross weight of 1,000 to 3,500 kg. Widths range from 1,250 to 2,540 mm, lengths from 2,950 to 8,950 mm.

With a gross weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, the Alf trailers sit throughout in the O2 class, which can be towed on an ordinary car licence. The spread from light single-axle units to larger tandem-axle versions covers typical jobs such as hauling machinery, materials or general loads, as is common in agricultural and trade settings.

When buying used, check the frame and drawbar for rust and distortion, the condition of the overrun brake and its linkage, and whether the weight figures on the data plate match the registration. Wheel bearings, brake linings, tyre age and the lighting system are worth inspecting, as is the condition of the sides or bodywork; parts for common axles, couplings and overrun assemblies are generally available from independent trailer dealers.
