The JL1 range also carries the AEG brand but, unlike the Italian-made AMHE range, is manufactured entirely in China. AEG Electric Motors thus licenses the brand to manufacturers in several countries, which build different ranges in parallel for the Australian and New Zealand market. The type plates JL1 100L-2 through JL1 160M2-2 combine the IEC frame size with an additional code for pole count.

The register lists 11 versions with 3 to 18.5 kW rated output, two- to six-pole, at supply voltages from 240/415 to 415/690 V. Full-load efficiency ranges from 85.51 to 92.3%, and at 75% load from 86.5 to 92.1%. Frame sizes span 100 to 160, and the protection class is IP55 throughout.
The multi-voltage design with combinations such as 415/690 V makes the JL1 range suitable for export to different mains systems, a common design principle among Chinese motor makers for the international market. The uniform B3,B5,B14,B34,B35 mounting code allows both foot and flange mounting.
For a replacement, these motors call for correctly selecting the supply voltage from the respective combination, plus a visual check of the terminal box, as multi-voltage motors need different wiring depending on the connection chosen. The broad power range from 3 to 18.5 kW covers a wide field, from small workshop drives to mid-sized industrial motors.
