Zetor 2011 (UR1 Series 0) – Czech tractor built 1963 to 1967: two-cylinder diesel of 1,559 cc, 22 hp and 16.2 kW, 85 Nm torque, 1,300 kg weight, top speed of 22 km/h

Zetor is a Czech tractor maker based in Brno, whose vehicles have counted among the defining farm-equipment brands of Central and Eastern Europe since the 1960s. The 2011 belongs to the first generation of the UR1 line, the so-called Series 0, built from 1963 to 1967 and representing the smallest tractor of that generation.

The water-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine has a displacement of 1,559 cc and produces 22 hp, or 16.2 kW, at 2,000 rpm, with 85 Nm of torque. At 2,980 mm long, 1,620 mm wide, 1,455 mm high, with a 1,745 mm wheelbase and 1,300 kg weight, the 2011 reaches a design top speed of 22 km/h.

As the smallest member of the early UR1 generation, the 2011 was intended for small and medium farms, at a time when the mechanisation of agriculture in Czechoslovakia was still in full swing. The two-cylinder engine was simpler in design and easier to maintain than the larger four-cylinder variants of the same generation.

When buying such an old Zetor, the condition of the cylinder bores and pistons, the tightness of the water cooling and corrosion on load-bearing parts matter most. As the UR1 generation was built in large numbers, parts for the engine and drivetrain can often still be found despite the age of the machine. It is also worth checking the gearbox seals, as oil leaks are common on these older designs.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
