Valtra/Valmet 8050 Mega range – the six-cylinder big tractors from Linnavuori: 8050 to 8750, rated speed 1,800 to 2,200 rpm, 80.9 to 117.7 kW, unladen weight 4,740 to 6,490 kg
The 8000 Mega was the big six-cylinder range of Valmet, the Finnish tractor maker from Suolahti with its engine plant in Linnavuori, which only renamed the brand Valtra in 1997 after the sale to Sisu. From the late 1980s the Mega range formed the top of the line above the four-cylinder ranges: the first digit 8 marks the big-tractor class, the following digits the step within the range – 8050 as the smallest, 8750 as the largest version. The engines are Valmet's own six-cylinders from the Linnavuori plant, which has supplied the brand's engines ever since – first as Valmet, then as Sisu, since 2004 as AGCO Power.

The register lists here 6 versions with 80.9 to 117.7 kW from six-cylinders of 6,593 to 7,365 cm³, torque from 461 to 691 Nm at rated speeds of 1,800 to 2,200 rpm, unladen weights from 4,740 to 6,490 kg, lengths from 4,757 to 5,720 mm, widths from 2,155 to 2,355 mm and heights from 2,750 to 2,825 mm.
The Mega range was Valmet's answer to the big six-cylinder tractors of Fiat, Ford and Massey Ferguson and was aimed at arable farms in Scandinavia and the export markets Valmet supplied from its second plant in Brazil; it stood at the transition from purely hydraulic to electronically assisted tractor control, which the following HiTech version completed.
On used tractors, operating hours and the condition of the six-cylinder, hydraulic tightness, the condition of cab and mudguards, transmission and PTO count; spares, since Valmet merged into Valtra via Sisu, now run through the Valtra and AGCO network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
