Valtra S (2nd series) – large tractors S232, S262, S292 and S322 since 2009, six-cylinder engines with 8.4 litres displacement, 177 to 232 kW, unladen weight 10.5 t, gross weight up to 18 t
The second generation of the Valtra S series replaced the first version of Valtra's largest range from 2009 and, as an AGCO large tractor, shares its technical base with sister group Fendt, also part of AGCO. The S232 to S322 type numbers roughly reflect engine power in horsepower and rise across this series from 232 to 322. The S series is built at Valtra's Finnish plant, part of the group since AGCO's takeover in 2004.

The register lists four versions here with 176.5 to 231.7 kW from six-cylinder engines with a uniform 8,400 cm³ displacement. Rated speed is 2,200 rpm, unladen weight is 10,500 kg with a gross vehicle weight of up to 18,000 kg, length is 4,745 mm, width is 2,550 mm and height is 3,380 mm.
With outputs of over 230 kW and a gross weight of 18 tonnes, the S series sits at the top end of the tractor market for large arable farms and contractors, competing there with the large tractors from Fendt, Case IH and John Deere.
When buying used, in this weight class check the condition of the front axle suspension, tightness of the hydraulic system and PTO, wear on the clutch and gearbox, and tyre wear given the high draft loads. Parts and service run through the Valtra dealer network under AGCO.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
