IMR-2 – Uralvagonzavod's Combat Engineering Vehicle Based on the T-72

The IMR-2 (Russian for "clearing engineering vehicle 2") is a Soviet, and later Russian, tracked engineering vehicle built on the chassis of the T-72 main battle tank, manufactured by Uralvagonzavod (UVZ). Development began in the 1970s and was completed in 1980; series production ran from 1982 to 1990, with a total of 659 units built. It replaced the older IMR, which was based on the T-54/55. The 44.3-tonne vehicle is powered by a V-84MS twelve-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing 840 hp, giving a top speed of 50 km/h and a range of 500 kilometres. The IMR-2 has been used in the Soviet-Afghan War, both Chechen wars, the Syrian civil war, the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Listed in the register: IMR-2.
