UD Trucks QD32

The register lists here 2 versions from the 2012 model year, each with 41 kW rated output at 2,000 to 2,300 rpm, from four-cylinders with 96 to 99.2 mm bore and 92 to 102 mm stroke. Both run indirect injection and low-sulphur diesel (300 to 500 ppm), certified to Interim Tier 4 in the EPA power category of 37 to below 56 kW. Maximum torque ranges from 170 to 195 Nm at 1,800 to 2,300 rpm, with certification covering both California and the remaining states.

The QD32 and TD27 come from a generation of rugged, indirect-injection four-cylinder diesel engines as fitted in light to medium commercial vehicles and stationary applications such as generator sets and pumps, before common-rail technology became the standard. The nonroad certification listed here covers use outside road vehicles.

When buying used, what counts on these older four-cylinders is the condition of the injection pump and glow plugs, the running of the timing chain or belt, and the tightness of the valve-cover and sump gaskets; on stationary units it is also worth checking operating hours and coolant condition.
