Simca – other models: the collective page outside the named ranges, from the licence-built Fiat Topolino as the Simca 5 through the Aronde to the 1100 with its Fourgonnette commercial version, 500 to 3,600 cm³

This page gathers the Simca vehicles the register could not assign to a named range. Simca (Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile) was founded near Paris in 1934 and initially built the Fiat Topolino under licence, which appeared as the Simca 5 from 1936 at the Nanterre plant. The Aronde, built from 1951 in the P60 and later trim levels, was Simca's first independent mid-range design and became the best-selling French car of its time; the 1100, built from 1967, was a front-wheel-drive hatchback also offered as a panel-van version called the Fourgonnette, without a rear seat. In 1970 Chrysler took a majority stake in Simca, and in 1978, after the sale of Chrysler's European division to PSA, the brand was absorbed into Talbot.

The register lists here 13 versions with four-cylinders of 500 to 3,600 cm³, unladen weights from 578 to 2,997 kg, gross weights from 850 to 3,500 kg and widths from 1,370 to 2,250 mm.

The Aronde and the 1100 shaped the mid-range and light-commercial segment in 1950s-to-1970s France against Renault and Citroën; the Fourgonnette version of the 1100 was a common tradesman's and delivery vehicle.

On used examples, rust on wings and floor pan and the originality of chrome and trim count on the Aronde, the condition of the front-wheel drive, clutch and brakes on the 1100, and the load bed and its sheet-metal condition on the Fourgonnette; parts are now only available through classic-car specialists and Simca clubs.

What to check before buying
