The Sennebogen entry “23 t material handler for waste and scrap handling” describes a 23-tonne-class material handler for waste and scrap. For comparison Sennebogen lists the 821 E with an operating weight of 23.9 to 26.3 t and the 822 G with 22 t and a reach of up to 10 m.
Material handlers have a long boom and a cab that can be raised to give a view into containers, truck bodies and onto stockpiles. Attachments are usually grapples, sorting grapples or magnets. Sennebogen builds such machines as crawler and wheeled units, with diesel or electric drive.
Sennebogen, based in Straubing, states it builds complete ranges of duty cycle cranes, crawler cranes, telescopic and harbour cranes, material handlers and telehandlers. The entry “23 t material handler for waste and scrap handling” is listed in the register as a Sennebogen crane, with no further type designation in the name. For assessment, capacity at the given radius, operating weight and drive type count. The load chart of the individual machine is always the binding reference.
Sennebogen – From Farm Machinery in Straubing to Material Handling
Erich Sennebogen founded the company in 1952 in Straubing, initially as a maker of agricultural machinery. His guiding principle, "there is no such thing as can't", led to the company's first hydraulic excavator in 1962, a hydraulically adjustable cab in 1976, and the world's first hydraulically adjustable articulated boom in 1980. Since then, the focus has been on productive, cost-efficient material-handling machines for scrapyards, steel mills, waterways, and waste, recycling and demolition work, where the machines move waste paper, waste timber, general waste, used tyres, scrap and construction debris. Final assembly takes place only at the German sites of Straubing and Wackersdorf. Listed in the register: a 23-tonne material handler for waste and scrap handling.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
