Schlüter was a Bavarian tractor maker based in Freising near Munich, descended from the agricultural machinery firm Anton Schlüter, established in Munich in the late 19th century. The DS series belongs to the marque's early post-war tractors: simple, rugged single-cylinder diesels for smaller farms. The DS 15 designation follows Schlüter's usual logic of encoding the power class in the number – the single-cylinder's measured 11 kW converts to roughly 15 hp. The H suffix on the DS 15 H marks a second version of the same basic design.
