Scania DC13 – the 12.7-litre six-cylinder from Södertälje for cranes, wheel loaders, generator sets and harvesters: 257 to 450 kW, XPI common rail, the certification codes 070A to 544A
The DC13 is Scania's industrial engine of the 13-litre class – the in-line six of 12.7 litres that runs in the R- and S-series trucks and, in industrial form, powers mobile cranes, wheel loaders, heavy forklifts, combines, wood chippers and generator sets. Scania is one of the few truck makers that sells its engines to others; Doosan wheel loaders, Terex articulated haulers and Sennebogen material handlers in the register carry Scania engines. The type logic: D stands for diesel, C for the version with charge-air cooling, 13 for the displacement class; the codes 070A to 089A and 541A, 544A denote the power ratings registered in the EPA certification with their maps, A the emission stage. The engines work with Scania's XPI common-rail injection at up to 2,400 bar and meet EPA Tier 4 final and EU Stage V with SCR and, depending on version, a particulate filter.

The register lists 11 versions with 257 to 450 kW (350 to 612 hp) at 1,800 to 2,100 rpm and peak torque from 1,490 to 3,046 Nm, all turbocharged, with ultra-low-sulphur diesel as the fuel requirement.
Scania's argument is the truck kinship: a crane operator or contractor with Scania trucks already has workshop, diagnostics and parts for the engine in the wheel loader in house – and the engines are designed for 1,500 operating hours a year over decades.
For operators and used buyers, the service history with the prescribed oil grades, the condition of the aftertreatment with SCR dosing, turbocharger and charge-air cooler and the operating hours relative to overhaul are what count.
