Satoh was a Japanese maker of small compact tractors that exported its models to North America and Europe under its own name in the 1970s and 1980s, giving them animal names such as Bison, Bull and Buck alongside the internal S and ST type designation; in Japan the same machines ran under the Mitsubishi name. The letter-and-number combinations such as S-470 or ST2600D roughly give the hp class, D stands for the diesel version.

Satoh tractors are among the small Japanese compact tractors that opened up the North American and European market for hobby and small holdings in the 1970s, long before Kubota, Yanmar and Iseki were broadly present there under their own brands; the animal names served Western distribution as a memorable model name.
On these smallest tractors, engine condition and the cooling system, clutch and transmission, and hydraulic tightness matter, as well as rust on bodywork; spares are scarce because the brand was discontinued and mostly run through dealers specialising in Japanese compact tractors.
