The Renault Trucks Renault Maxity is a heavy truck from Renault Trucks.

Gearbox: manual; 5 i 6 stopniowa; drive type: 4x2. The vehicle is 5 mm long, 2 mm wide and 2 mm high.

Renault Maxity – light chassis truck up to 4.5 tonnes, 2.5 to 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel, 107 to 110 kW, Mascott successor, shared with the Nissan Cabstar/Atleon

The Renault Maxity is a light chassis truck in the up-to-4.5-tonne weight class, which Renault introduced in 2007 as the successor to the Mascott and built in cooperation with Nissan, where the model was sold as the Cabstar or Atleon. The type designation 150-4.5T states engine output in horsepower and the 4.5-tonne weight class; the Finnish word 'alusta' in the designation 150.45/6 Alusta L3 means chassis or frame and shows that the vehicle is a bare chassis without a fixed body, while L3 denotes the wheelbase variant. The Maxity is powered by a four-cylinder diesel of between 2.5 and 3.0 litres.

The register lists 8 versions with a four-cylinder engine of 2,488 to 2,953 cm³ and outputs of 107 to 110 kW. Unladen weight ranges from 2,500 to 3,725 kg, gross vehicle weight from 3,500 to 5,200 kg. Length runs from 5,500 to 6,750 mm and width from 1,980 to 2,200 mm.

In the light-truck segment between 3.5 and 4.5 tonnes, the Maxity competed with the Iveco Daily, the light version of the Mercedes-Benz Atego 4x2 and its own group sibling, the Nissan Cabstar. As a bare chassis, the Maxity served chiefly as a base for box bodies, flatbeds and municipal vehicles in urban distribution haulage, where its compact dimensions and simpler licence requirements compared with heavy trucks gave it an edge.

On a used example, the condition of the chassis frame behind the cab should be checked, as different loads and fixings apply depending on the body fitted. The turbocharger and injection system of the four-cylinder engine are worth checking for fault codes and durability, as is the braking system on the heavier 4.5-tonne versions. Since identical technology was also used by Nissan, spare parts are available through both dealer networks.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
