In the light-truck segment between 3.5 and 4.5 tonnes, the Maxity competed with the Iveco Daily, the light version of the Mercedes-Benz Atego 4x2 and its own group sibling, the Nissan Cabstar. As a bare chassis, the Maxity served chiefly as a base for box bodies, flatbeds and municipal vehicles in urban distribution haulage, where its compact dimensions and simpler licence requirements compared with heavy trucks gave it an edge.

On a used example, the condition of the chassis frame behind the cab should be checked, as different loads and fixings apply depending on the body fitted. The turbocharger and injection system of the four-cylinder engine are worth checking for fault codes and durability, as is the braking system on the heavier 4.5-tonne versions. Since identical technology was also used by Nissan, spare parts are available through both dealer networks.
