Preet 987

Series: Other models

The Preet 987 is the self-propelled combine from Preet Agro Industries, a company of the Indian Preet group. The register lists a diesel engine from Ashok Leyland or Kirloskar with 105 PS (78 kW) and India as the country of manufacture. The current manufacturer figure is 101 hp from six cylinders.

Preet began production of threshers, reapers and agricultural implements in 1980; the founders were Hari Singh and his younger brother Gurcharan Singh. In 1986 the first tractor-driven combine followed. The 987 emerged from the company's own development of self-propelled combines, and the maker calls it its best-known model; Preet holds a share of more than 40 percent of the market for self-propelled combines in India.

Technical data: a 4.3 m cutter bar, a threshing drum of 605 mm diameter and 1,250 mm width, five straw walkers, a grain tank of 2.52 m³, a fuel tank of 365 l and a 5-speed gearbox (3 forward, 1 reverse). A variant with an air-conditioned cabin is described as India's first air-conditioned combine cab.

Preet – Combine Harvesters from Punjab Since the 1980s

Preet was founded in 1980 in Nabha, Punjab, India, out of a tractor and farm-machinery repair workshop started by Hari Singh; the business was renamed Preet Agro Industries and began producing threshers, reapers and other farm implements. Together with his younger brothers Gurcharan Singh and Prem Singh, Hari Singh used limited resources to develop a tractor-drawn combine harvester, launched in 1986. That same year saw the self-propelled Preet 987, which became one of the most admired and best-selling combine harvesters in India. Preet Agro Industries is today one of India's largest manufacturers of combine harvesters and agricultural tractors. Listed in the register: Preet 987.
