The register lists here 352 versions with 4 to 678 kW rated output at 1,500 to 2,800 rpm, from two- to six-cylinders with 67 to 145 mm bore and 72 to 183 mm stroke, torques from 19.1 to 5,500 Nm. The Tier 3 emission stage dominates with 214 versions ahead of Tier 4 (Final or Phase-in) with 72 and Interim Tier 4 with 66; the 75 to 130 kW power category is the most common with 128 versions.

Perkins engines drive construction machinery, telehandlers, compressors, generator sets and mid-size farm machinery; as a Caterpillar subsidiary the brand supplies both the group's own construction machinery and numerous outside manufacturers without their own engine production in this power segment.

On a used purchase, operating hours count, the condition of the turbocharger (predominantly waste-gate design), the injection pump or, on newer model years, the common-rail injectors, the cooling system and charge-air cooler, and on Tier 4 engines the exhaust aftertreatment; since Perkins parts run through both the Perkins and the Caterpillar network, it is worth checking both part numbers.
