The Palfinger HT 26 (A) belongs to the HT series from the Austrian manufacturer Palfinger. HT models are hooklift systems, described in Palfinger material as telescopic hookloaders: they are mounted on a truck chassis, pick up roll-off containers, skips or swap bodies with a hook arm, and either set them down on the ground or tip them out. The telescopic function lengthens the frame so that containers of different lengths can be handled.

According to Palfinger, the HT 26 and HT 30 form the new generation for four- and five-axle trucks. They belong to the class of chassis with a gross vehicle weight of 26 to 32 t and more, for which Palfinger quotes lifting capacities of 24 to 30 t for the most powerful hookloaders. The HT 26 (A) therefore sits in the upper range of the HT series, where construction, waste and bulk-material vehicles work with heavy containers. The suffix (A) after the type number is part of the register designation.

In operation, the match between chassis, hook arm and container standard decides which containers can be picked up. No further measured values are stored in the register for the HT 26 (A); mounting height, lifting capacity and frame length depend on the version and the chassis.

What to check before buying

  • Search the frame and welds at the axle mounts — that is where cracks start.
  • Check the brakes and the last inspection in the papers.
  • Compare the chassis number with the papers.
  • Look at the floor, cover or body from the inside — rust does not show from outside.

A general list for this type of machine — no substitute for an inspection or an appraiser.
