Oliver Super series (1954–1958) – the Fleetline successors from Charles City: Super 44 to Super 99, the number as size class, GM for the Detroit two-stroke diesel, D for diesel
The Super series was Oliver's programme of the mid-1950s – the upgrade of the Fleetline models 66, 77 and 88 of 1948, with which the maker from Charles City, Iowa, had faced the post-war years, for more power, hydraulics and the new three-point linkage. The type logic: Super marks the generation, the number orders the size in ascending order – Super 44 the small three-cylinder row-crop tractor, Super 55 the utility tractor of about 34 hp, Super 66 and Super 77 the mid-range, Super 88 the big six-cylinder of about 60 hp, Super 99 the top model – D the diesel, and GM on the Super 99 the General Motors 3-71 two-stroke diesel with which Oliver offered the most powerful tractor of its time. The own engines are three-, four- and six-cylinders of 2.3 to 4.9 litres at low rated speeds of 1,600 to 2,000 rpm, available as petrol or diesel – Oliver's six-cylinders were regarded as the smoothest of the class.
