New Holland Geotech 84 series – large four-wheel tractors from the merger years: 9184 and 9684, six-cylinder engines of 8,268 to 14,039 cm³, 176.5 to 264.8 kW, 11,327 to 13,968 kg, torque up to 1,490 Nm
The Geotech name accompanied New Holland shortly after the 1991 merger of Ford New Holland with the Italian maker Fiatagri, as the brands were brought together. The 84 series forms the large four-wheel tractors of these transition years, represented here by the 9184 and the 9684, whose model numbers indicate membership of the upper power class. Both models rely on six-cylinder diesel engines of very large displacement for high pulling power.

The register lists 2 versions with 176.5 to 264.8 kW from six-cylinder engines of 8,268 to 14,039 cm³, unladen weights of 11,327 to 13,968 kg, a length of 6,756 mm, a width of 3,820 mm and a height of 3,477 mm; torque ranges from 1,011 to 1,490 Nm at rated speeds of 2,100 to 2,200 rpm.
Such large four-wheel tractors target operations with very high acreage needs that must move heavy tillage equipment and wide implements in short time windows, and in the 1990s formed the upper end of the New Holland model range.
When buying used, check operating hours and service history of the large-displacement six-cylinder, the condition of clutch, gearbox and final drives at this weight class, the tightness of the hydraulics for wide implements, and the condition of cab and frame; parts run through the regular New Holland network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
