Mustang's telehandlers are the red twins of the Gehl RS range: since Gehl of West Bend took over the Mustang brand in 1997, skid steers and telehandlers were sold identically in yellow and red, and after Manitou bought both in 2008 that continued until Mustang was absorbed into the Manitou brand in 2020. The type logic follows the American convention: the first digits give the capacity in thousand pounds, the last the lift height in feet – a 519 lifts 5,000 lb to 19 ft, a 642 6,000 lb to 42 ft, an 842 8,000 lb to 42 ft, a 944 9,000 lb to 44 ft, an 1155 11,000 lb to 55 ft. The engines are almost throughout John Deere 4045T, the four-cylinder turbodiesel of 4.5 litres regarded in North America as the standard engine of the class, at 2,500 to 2,600 rpm; a Deutz TD 2009 in the register belongs to a small model.
