MAN F2000 – heavy truck range 1994–2000: six-cylinder engines from 9.97 to 12.8 litres, gross vehicle weight 18 tonnes, F and A2 cab variants
The F2000 was MAN's heavy-duty range from Munich from 1994 to 2000, replacing the F90 and itself succeeded by the TGA generation. The register covers the base F2000, the F2000 (19-463) version, and three cab variants marked A2 with works-internal type numbers identifying individual chassis and body combinations. MAN was formed in 1908 through the merger of Maschinenfabrik Augsburg with Maschinenbau-Actien-Gesellschaft Nürnberg; the group has built trucks since the 1920s.

The register lists 5 versions with six-cylinder engines from 9,973 to 12,816cc displacement, unladen weights from 7,156 to 8,500kg, a uniform gross vehicle weight of 18,000kg, lengths from 5,800 to 7,800mm and widths from 2,500 to 2,550mm.
In the heavy class of the 1990s the F2000 competed against the Mercedes SK and its successor the Actros, as well as the Volvo FH; it was used both as a long-haul tractor unit and as a flatbed and construction-site vehicle. Besides long-haul work, the F2000 was also used as a base for fire-service and specialist vehicles, where six-cylinder chassis of this weight class were in demand.
Buying used, check the frame and cab mounts for rust, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, the turbocharger and injection system of the six-cylinder engine, leaf or air suspension, and the brakes; spare parts run through the MAN dealer network and independent commercial-vehicle workshops. The tightness of the cab tilt mechanism and the condition of the fifth-wheel coupling on tractor units are also worth checking.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
