MAN – other models: collective page of MAN Ackerdiesel tractors, 4P1 to D 40 A: 26 to 45 kW (45 to 60 hp), MAN diesel engines, some with four-wheel drive
This page gathers the models of the German maker MAN that the register could not assign to a range of its own. Under the name Ackerdiesel, MAN built tractors from the 1930s to the early 1960s, before the division passed to other makers. Type designations such as 4P1, 4R3 Allrad, 4S1 Allrad and 4T1 Allrad already indicate four-wheel drive on several models by name, while A 25 and D 40 A denote separate ranges. The engines are all from MAN itself.

The register lists here 9 versions with 26 to 45 kW (45 to 60 hp) from three- to six-cylinder MAN diesel engines of around 1,912 to 1,915 cm³. Lift capacity ranges from 2,880 to 4,320 kg, unladen weight is 1,920 kg and gross vehicle weight 2,500 kg, at a length of 3,340 mm and a width of 1,670 to 1,720 mm.
In West German post-war farming, MAN Ackerdiesel tractors targeted medium-sized operations and competed with brands such as Fendt, Deutz and Eicher. The early use of four-wheel drive on several types was, for the period, a technical distinguishing feature against many competitors.
Buying one of the now-rare MAN Ackerdiesel tractors calls for checking the engine and injection pump, the tightness of the gearbox and four-wheel-drive system, and corrosion on sheet-metal parts after more than sixty years. As production has long ended, parts are now only available through collectors, vintage-tractor clubs and specialist dealers.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
