MAN built its own tractors in Nuremberg in the 1950s under the Ackerdiesel name; the K Series listed here comprises the models 2K1, 2K2, 2K3 and 4K1, all with the same two-cylinder diesel engine displacing 1,304 to 1,305 cc and rated at 13.2 kW (18 hp) at 1,800 rpm. The small two-cylinders of the K Series targeted part-time farms and smaller holdings in the post-war period.

The MAN K Series occupied the lower power segment of the MAN Ackerdiesel tractors for smaller farms, at a time when Lanz, Fahr, Hanomag and Fendt competed alongside MAN for the small-tractor market. After ending its own tractor production, MAN refocused on trucks and diesel engines for other applications.
When buying these early post-war tractors used, check the condition of the two-cylinder and its injection pump, the tightness of the cooling and fuel systems, the clutch and gearbox, and rust on the frame and bodywork; parts are now only obtainable through collectors and vintage-vehicle specialists. as well as the function of the generator and the simple electrical system. Original tin plates and instruments are a further point worth checking closely.
