Leyland built tractors at Bathgate in Scotland as successors to the Nuffield tractors, after British Leyland was formed in 1968 from a merger of British car makers; this collective page gathers the models outside the named ranges. Buying used, what matters on these tractors above all is the condition of the gearbox and clutch, the tightness of the hydraulics, and rust on the wings and bonnet; since spares for the British Leyland engines are limited, it is worth checking the cylinder head and injection pump, whereas far more parts are available for the Perkins units.
