Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company in 1948 near Bologna, before launching the sports car maker of the same name in 1963; the tractor division passed to the SAME group (today SDF) in 1972, which still runs Lamborghini Trattori as a standalone brand with its characteristic yellow paintwork. The model names draw on motorsport terms such as Racing, Formula, Champion, Strike, Sprint, Spark and Crono.
