John Deere 8010 series (1999–2002) – the big tractors from Waterloo on wheels and tracks: 8110 to 8410, the number as power step, T for the tracked version, PowerTech six-cylinder of 8.1 litres, 144 to 199 kW
The 8010 series was the second generation of the big tractors with which John Deere had redefined the class between 160 and 300 hp in 1994: the 8000s of 1994 brought the six-cylinder up front, the cab moved far forward and the 16-speed powershift; the 8010s of 1999 carried that layout on with the new PowerTech engine and revised electronics, built in Waterloo, Iowa. The type logic: 8 marks the series, the middle digit the power step – 8110 about 165 hp, 8210 190 hp, 8310 220 hp, 8410 250 hp – 10 the generation, T the tracked version with rubber-belt undercarriage (8110T to 8410T), with which Deere had challenged Caterpillar's Challenger since 1997. The engine in all models is the PowerTech six-cylinder of 8.1 litres at 2,200 rpm; the register span up to 199 kW shows the maximum power of the top models.
