John Deere crawler loaders 350 to 855 – from Dubuque since 1958: the size classes 350, 450, 555, 655, 755 and 855, generations B to K, 31 to 149 kW
The crawler loader – a track undercarriage with a front bucket instead of a dozer blade – is an American speciality that loads in civil engineering, basement excavation, recycling and landfills where wheel loaders find no grip. John Deere has built them since 1958 at its Dubuque, Iowa plant and is, with Caterpillar, the last major supplier of the class. The number logic is the same as for the dozers: 350 and 355 the small class, 450 and 455 the medium, 555, 655 and 755 the big crawler loaders, 855 the heaviest; the letters B, C, D, G, J and K are generations from the 1970s to the K series of the 2010s. The 605 and 700J models in the register are dozers of the same series logic that the sorting placed here – LGP stands for Low Ground Pressure with wide tracks, XLT for the long-undercarriage version.

The register lists 22 versions with 31.3 to 149.1 kW from three- to six-cylinders of 2,688 to 10,144 cm³ – Deere 300 series in the small, 4045 and 6068 in the medium, PowerTech PVX 6068 in the younger models – at rated speeds of 1,800 to 2,500 rpm, torque from 149 to 990 Nm and operating weights from 5,538 to 22,498 kg.
Deere's crawler loaders are known for the hydrostatic drive from the G series onward, which allows stepless turning under load, and for the four-in-one bucket that combines loading, grading, grabbing and pushing in one tool.
On used machines, operating hours, wear of tracks, rollers and sprockets (undercarriage costs dominate the calculation), play in the lift arm, leak-free hydraulics and the condition of the hydrostatic drive are what count.
