John Deere 50 series (1986–1992) – Mannheim's last generation before the 6000: 1550 to 3650, the number as size class, (A) for four-wheel drive, three- to six-cylinders, the tractors of the SG2 cab, 32 to 85 kW
The 50 series was the last Mannheim tractor generation with the classic number logic before John Deere introduced the full-frame design and the cab of the 1990s with the 6000 series in 1992. Built from 1986 to 1992, it replaced the 40s and orders size by the first digits in ascending order: 1550 and 1750 the three-cylinders, 1950 to 2550 the four-cylinder mid-range, 2850 to 3650 the six-cylinders; the 50 names the generation, (A) four-wheel drive, which in this range became standard on the larger models. The engines were Deere's own in-line engines from the Saran plant in France, with 2.9 to 5.9 litres.

The 50s brought the SG2 cab with deep-drawn glazing and the Hi-Lo powershift step; they are regarded as the most reliable Mannheim tractors of the 1980s and still run on many farms today as second tractors.
