JLG of McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, is the world's largest maker of aerial work platforms – founded in 1969 by John L. Grove, who gave it its name, part of the Oshkosh group since 2006 – and scissor lifts are the volume product. The type logic follows the American convention: the first digits give the platform height in feet, the last the platform width in inches – a 1930ES is 19 ft high and 30 in wide, a 3246ES 32 ft and 46 in, a 4394RT 43 ft and 94 in. The letters name drive and duty: ES stands for Electric Slab, the battery-powered indoor lift with electric drive motors, R for the entry range, RT for Rough Terrain with diesel engine and all-wheel drive, LE for the electric rough-terrain lift, CRT and LRT for Compact and Large Rough Terrain, M for the version with mobile drive; the RTS models are older rough-terrain lifts.
