This page gathers the JCB excavators and backhoe loaders the register could not assign to a named range: from the early backhoe loaders 2D and 3D through the legendary 3CX – the most-built backhoe loader in JCB's history since 1980 – to the 3CX Hydrogen, a hydrogen-powered prototype of the early 2020s, plus mini, midi and crawler excavators of the C, X and Z series. On the mini and midi excavators, the number in the designation traditionally states the approximate operating-weight class in tenths of a tonne, so the 19C-1 weighs around 1.9 tonnes and the 90Z-2 around 9 tonnes. Engines on the classic backhoe loaders came mainly from Perkins, JCB's long-standing engine partner, before the brand switched to its own Dieselmax engines from 2004.

With this range JCB covers practically the whole earthmoving programme, from the mini excavator for garden and utility work to the backhoe loader as a distinctly British machine used on building sites, in municipal work and in agriculture worldwide; the backhoe loader ranks among the most recognisable construction machines of all.
On used examples, operating hours and the condition of the engine and hydraulic pumps, undercarriage or tyre wear, the condition of the boom, bucket and attachment lock, and the tightness of the cylinders all matter; spare parts run through the JCB dealer network, and on older backhoe loaders additionally through independent Perkins workshops.
