Iveco was formed in 1975 from the merger of the commercial-vehicle divisions of Fiat, OM and Lancia with the French maker Unic and the German Magirus-Deutz into the Industrial Vehicles Corporation, based in Turin; the Daily arrived in 1978 and has been continuously developed ever since. The type logic: the 35 gives the weight class around 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight, S stands for single rear tyres – as opposed to C for dual tyres – which for the same payload gives a wider load floor and better manoeuvrability in city traffic, V marks the closed panel van as the body form. The final number 14 gives the power step of around 140 hp; Iveco also offers a natural-gas CNG EEV variant of this version.
